the landscape around lethbridge, alberta is a dry and dusty brown. the horizon stretches to infinity, with nary a tree to interrupt the vast nothingness of the great plains. into this harsh land - this unforgiving panorama of prickly-pear cacti and top-forty cover bands - was born a group of musicians determined to create for themselves a colourful oasis of rock and roll genius as a powerful talisman against the musical monotony of their surroundings.

trailing a faint path left for them by the unsung heroes of rock music (the boo radleys; yo la tengo; the charlatans - to name but a few), the courageous four have embarked on a mission to bring the nourishing beauty of independent rock music to a parched land. for three years, the darby and joan club has been planting brilliant, fertile melodies into the minds of their audiences.

you'll find no guitar heroics here, folks. you will, however, experience a steady downpour of incredibly catchy songs, augmented by memorable lyrics that avoid cliché at all costs. live performances are marked by a musical spontaneity that keeps the songs fresh and the audiences coming back for more. from a breathy whisper to a full-throttle roar; from the most delicate melody to the earth-splitting howl of barely-controlled feedback, the darby and joan club knows how to take their audience on a beautiful roller coaster ride they won't soon forget.
